I received a minor in Photography in college but I had gotten away from Photography for a couple years but I am back attack. Getting a nice Digital SLR for the Skate NZ trip relight the spark. I shot photos mainly to caputre memories and for Loaded. The best way to get good at photography is taking pictures. Remember good equipment does not produce good photos (it only helps). Your imagination, your creative eye, composition, use of lighting, and environment creates good pictures.

Pentax K10D

HOW TO EDIT SEQUENCE PHOTOS

I basically went into a photo store aiming to buy an oldskool film camera. LUCKILY I got talked out of it and talked into buying a Digital SLR. I had done no prior research on Digital SLR cameras so I was just taking the advice of the super awesome and helpful sales man. He recommend the Pentax K10D and said it was the best bang for the buck camera. So sha bam I got it. I have had the camera one year and it has traveled 1,000s of miles, been in some hairy buswacking situations and is still going strong. The controls are layed out very nicely and it has a very solid feel and contsruction to it. Sure there might be some better Nikons out there but I am sticking with my Pentax for the time being.

Sigma Zoom Super Wide Angle 10-20mm f/4-5.6

LENSES:

Very nice quality lens. Got this for skate photography and night shots. Allows me to be super close to an object and get the whole object in frame. It is very much like a fish-eye lens but with a lot less distortion.

Tamaron Zoom Super Wide Angle 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3

This is bascially my every day lens, gives me a lot of options. 18mm is a good wide angle size and 200mm I feel is a good zoom. I did not do much research when I got this lens, it was recommended to me. It is a good beginner lens but I will probably buy a nicer/faster lens down the line. Tis a good lens for the price.

HOW TO COLOR CORRECT PHOTOS

FILTERS:

B+W Neutral Density (ND) 3.0 Glass Filter

I wanted to do long exposure, 30 seconds shots in broad day light. WHY? because I wanted to capture clouds moving in the sky, light moving on objects and I just find long exposure pictures more fun to take because you never know what you are going to get. This is what this filter enables me to do. 3.0 is the tickest I could find and it is so dark you can't really see through it. It is kind of annoying but you have to compose your shot and then add the filter. Each time you change your shot you have to take the filter off and then add it again. One day I am going to drop the filter and get pisssed. The company B+W seems very respected and one of the top dogs in making high quality filters. I have bought cheap filters before and it is not worth it becuase they fall apart. The B+W filter has a very good solid feel to it and looks the money it is worth. You got to baby it for sure because it is so nice. The results are amazing, it does give some of the pictures a black soft boarder around them which makes them look more old skool. I have found it has also made the colors more rich and beautiful. These ND filters take some time to get use to and I found I was so excited about it at first I was tyring to use it everywhere and getting frustrated but now have releazied there is a time and place for it. Once you figure out when to use the filter it is awesome.

I really recommend this tripod. This bad boy is one tough cookie and fairly small. Very simple, easy to use, sturdy srtong build (got that quality feel to it). It also has this cool featured that lets the legs go super wide so you can have your camera very close to the ground.
